Aquabella have long since established their own genre in the world of a-cappella singing. The four sirens from Berlin have been active for years, singing in more than 20 languages. Their concerts lead the listener on a tour all over Europe, and beyond. With their sixth album AYADOOEH! – Hits der Weltmusik A Cappella they present the „greatest hits“ of Folk Music.
These world travelers have brought back treasures from the bazaars of the world. From their musical rambles, they share the best-known songs from Japan, Canada, Brazil, Greece, Portugal and Bulgaria.
From the tender Japanese „Sakura“, about the fleeting cherry blossoms, to the passionate Gypsy song „Ederlezi“. From the Yemenite strains of „Im nin alu“, popularized by Ofra Haza, to film songs such as „Adiemus“, or newly-arranged „Hijo de la Luna“.
Each of these pieces have become Aquabella’s new favorites, although they pay homage to ancient traditions.
Just as on previous CDs, this is an iridescent Kaleidoscope of tones and timbres, where the wonderful world of modern Folkmusic is revealed.
The quartet has been awarded several prizes, and are not unaccustomed to the winners’ tribunals at contests. About them it has been said: „If there were a prize for World Music, Aquabella would surely win it!“
