Who’s Counting
Rachelle Garniez‘ sixth CD, is a collection of sweet, solemn, and irreverent musings, by turns philosophical and surreal, lighthearted and tragic. Produced by Dick Connette, it sounds distinctly American, by way of New York, stemming from jazz, folk, and soul, and rooted in the spirited interplay between Tim Lüntzel’s bass and Rachelle‘s piano and accordion. Occasional horns and strings are added for atmosphere, and a guest appearance by roots-world band Hazmat Modine throws a swampy back-porch texture into the mix. Instrumental interludes were created to open the ears and cleanse the palate – it’s an album conceived to be gathered whole.

Rachelle is known as a “certified free spirit” (The New Yorker), and a “diva with a difference” (Billboard). The New York Times has called her songs and stream of consciousness performances “romantic, rhapsodic, and casually hilarious.”

On tour with Tim Lüntzel – bass
Rachelle Garniez presents her new album Who’s Counting with Tim Lüntzel, a highly sought-after and versatile bass player from New York.
One of the most important moments in his young career, was the honoration with the „Grammy“ award in 2010 for Loudon Wainwright´s album „The Charlie Poole Project“ where he played the bass. Beside his engagement with Rachelle Garniez he plays with Emmilou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Norah Jones and others. His own band project is called „The Brooklyn Boogaloo Blowout“.
