Re-release der Single „Humanity vom Album Aspects:
An indictment for more humanity in a time when racism rages in many places in the world. Humanity is and was a statement of Charles Petersohn’s band to put the hybrid live sound of funk, jazz, world music and hip hop also in the studio in the center. With the song Humanity, Charles Petersohn made a strong statement almost 30 years ago on the second album of the band “aspects” signed to JARO. Now, 29 years later, this sound, this message seems as current and necessary as it was then. My Manity, Your Manity, Our Manity, Humanity!
War has returned to Europe and everyone is talking only about tanks and weapons. The willingness to work for peace does not seem to be too great – on both sides.
The CDs are still available as sound carrier.
Charles Petersohn
Musician, DJ and lyricist Charles Petersohn from Wuppertal. 30 years ago he started with his band project, produced three CDs and vinyl and this name, recorded a duo album with Jasper van’t Hof. In the time when the mixture of hip-hop and jazz had its HIGH phase, Charles played among other things as an opening act with US3, he was loved and invited by the Parisian station RADIO NOVA. His band completed several major tours.
More consistently than in previous projects, he devotes himself to technology, electronics. You can hear the sound 20 years of experience in dealing with the creative processes. Charles Petersohn was and is always looking for new inspirations and challenges. Moodi Allen is the up date of permanent searching and finding. Like a common thread running through all projects and songs on Petersohn’s musical journey is his love of jazz and funk, especially Miles Davis, Dr. John and James Brown. He now plays the keyboards and basses exclusively himself, listens to the originals until he finds the link to his own music and thus develops his own, easily understandable language. Moodi Allen’s “bigeasyandblue” is a first example of the sound Charles Petersohn has had in his head for years, which he now, thanks to new possibilities, realizes consistently and passionately.
The video by Wuppertal filmmaker Michael Baudenbacher was filmed in the streets of the Polish city of Wroclaw, at the Jazz nad Odra festival and in Wuppertal.
