“Skin Under” is music, born deep from the soul of and from the emotions of Jasper van’t Hof. 7 tracks were recorded analog in 2 days, live in the studio. Like a concert in a club, you hear the jazz music of the 60s.

The unstoppable Jasper van’t Hof (born 1947) has once again taken a plunge into the deep end!
He has released an album with the mysterious title “Skin Under”, which he created together with two of his favorite creative minds, ‘Stefan Lievestro’ (double bass) and Jamie Peet (drums). As the icing on the cake, he asked the renowned saxophonist Christof Lauer (1953) to join in.
Van ‘t Hof and Lauer have known each other since 1983, when Ralf Hübner asked them to collaborate on the recording of his album “Courage of the past”, which also features the very moving piece “Marsch of Oelze”, the only composition on “Skin Under” that van ‘t Hof did not compose himself.

“Skin Under” consists of seven pieces, each of which represents an individual challenge for musicians and listeners alike. It is undoubtedly one of van ‘t Hof’s most ground-breaking projects; no clichés, no hackneyed phrases, nothing obvious. Jasper Van’t Hof wanted to create a completely experimental sound experience…a true test for the senses – and it is!

He has been a soloist with the NDR Bigband for many years and has played in projects with tuba player Michel Godard, flamenco guitarist Gerardo Núñez, singer Sidsel Endresen and Turkish ney player Kudsi Erguner

He is one of the greats of Dutch jazz. As a bassist, he has played with jazz greats such as Nat Adderley, Freddie Hubbard, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Art Porter and P. Catherine. He leads two of his own big bands.
